TEST EXCERPT The lightest twin-tip that Slingshot have ever made absolutely delivers when it comes to fun ocean-going, spritely performance.

The over riding elements that shine are speed and grip, neither of which is over cooked; the Formula feels precisely balanced in its performance. Delivering very easy and immediate edge grip as soon as you engage your heel, should you wish to break the board loose and slide to toeside, it’s easy enough to flatten the board off and transfer your weight from your heel to your toes, pivoting around your front foot. Essentially, there are plenty of playful elements for those who like to slash around as well as speed about, hard and fast. We tested the Formula in very light wind sessions of just 14 knots on a foil kite, and up to 28 – 30 knots on a nine metre. While there’s enough stiffness to help you get planing in the lighter winds, the pace and feel of the board is most at home in the stronger conditions when you’re loading it up. The positive feedback underfoot, the instant edge control after landing, or after popping over a wave, all give you a real sense of confidence to push yourself to ride with a nice, constant speed. The Formula flexes and propels you forward with ease and fluidity in and around difficult conditions. The instant bite and forward speed combined with very easy, rewarding carving pop and light weight feel are standout highlights.
